Gestational Diabetes Mellitus. Sugar Diabetes During Pregnancy

Abnormally high blood glucose level during pregnancy significantly increases the danger of birth defects in babies born to kmothers with sugar diabetes. Congenial anomalies and miscarriages account for more than 65 percent of perinatal losses in diabetic gestation. Uncontrolled gesstational diabetes can lead to diabetic ketoacidosis which means life-threatening metabolic derangements for the mother and death for the fetus.
